There were two teenage boys, delivering sandwiches to tables. I told her my issue and she re checked the total and confirmed that I was overcharged seventeen dollars, she gave me a cash refund for the difference. I went to the cashier, she was no where to be found and there was a line forming of people waiting to pay( looking back, I guess that is not an issue when there is a 30 minute wait for food )apparently, she went to the storeroom to get cups. The receipt wasn't itemized, but there were twelve prices listed and we only ordered eight. We sat down and waited for food and I looked at the receipt because it seemed like a high price. The cashier didn't know what that was, she only knew it was a ginger beer, no problem, "You learn something every day", she said. We ordered a beef club sandwich, a chicken sausage sandwich, two cookies, a pecan bar, a lemon bar and two beverages, one drink ordered was a Bundarberge. I was told that there was a lot of online orders. I looked around and there was hardly a line so I asked why. Or just go wild, skip the sandwiches, and go for the hand-crafted one-of-a-kind cookies - my three favorites are Chocolate Nut Bomb, Christmas Cookie, and Molasses Cookie.Upon arrival at 1:00 on Monday, we were informed that it would take 30-45 minutes before lunch would be ready. Lunch sandwiches are good and big get there early to beat the jury crowd. The raw brick and polished wood ambiance make for a cozy setting. They are well-trained and carefully chosen by owners Susie and Mark. The young folk who wait on you are smart and friendly. Hard to choose whether to have it on a bagel or a croissant. For a great breakfast on a weekday that won't break your belt, try the "Breakfast Sandwich" (not available on the weekend) with your choice of how the egg is prepared, type of meat, type of cheese, type of bread and the various extra options. You know that you're gonna' like it when you walk in and smell all of the goodies. Outstanding bakery, favorite breakfast place, and best lunch sandwiches in town. Simple Simon's is a Riverside destination in itself. How much food can you eat for 42 bucks at a buffet anyway? (I'm checking "scenic view" but it's of the pedestrian mall in downtown riverside, so maybe that's not what scenic means.) (It really didn't need it anyway, there was plenty of bacon - and they gave me the two dollars and tax back when my friend mentioned it.) In Riverside? Staying at the Mission Inn? Hey, it's right there and cheaper than Duane's in the Mission Inn - and way cheaper that the famous Mission Inn Sunday Brunch. We enjoyed it - they forgot to add my "apple sausage" to my bacon and spinach omelette for which I paid a couple bucks extra. Maybe they could use a coffee line for people who've already ordered, or waiters? (What a concept.) Several people mentioned that the owner, working the cash-register at the end of a long line ordering food was "rude." Maybe, he just seemed over-worked to me. so hire more help(?) Our friend went back in and tried to order another latte, (which are elcellent) but she'd have to stand in a line that went all the way back to the door. Asked for a towel to wipe off the table outside (wet) and that took 5 minutes and several requests. Had the option of sitting inside but it was "stuffy" and crowded - so take your pick. Also, a bit chilly and omelettes got cold fast. "The city" should do the leaf-blowers some other time - not when people are eating. Wonderful deserts - my wife says the strawberry-rhubarb pie is "to die for." (So the saying goes, but, really? die?.) So we went there with friends, and sat outside. "Homemade" bread (IF you live in a restaurant ), but it's good. "Different" sandwiches - not your regular stuff. Mostly a sandwich shoppe - soup - bakery goods. Open for breakfast and lunch, but not dinner. could use a bit better service - albeit that they were very busy - 'cause it's fairly good.
